The Borderlands Novel Boot Camp email came today. I went last year and it was really excellent. I highly recommend it.

I would like to, but I haven't started on anything yet. Is it the same format as the short story one, Fran?

Giving it serious consideration. I'm planning to start a novel next month, so Bootcamp would be good incentive to finish it.

I definitely plan to go since novels are my chosen format. The piece I took to our last bootcamp was a piece of my third novel, which I'm going back
through now, with an eye on everything we learned. And I'm about halfway through my fourth novel, which I'm champing at the bit to get back to. Okay,
finish polishing the last one, and then on to completing the newer one.
Fran, are you attending Context this year? I'm signed up for two of Gary B.'s classes as well as the novel workshop with Tim. --Shelby |

I would like to go, if I can obtain the funds. Plus I'd be settling into my move to Colorado so it may be too much for me.

I'm planning on going.
Ed, you don't need to have an entire novel written before you go. In fact, Elizabeth usually recommends you not be too far along in the novel before you workshop it, because you may decide to go a different direction after the camp. |

Thanks for the advice, Brian. How much reading do you have to do to produce a crit for each attendee? Is it like the short story one, where the word limit was
something like 4000 words, or is it more? I'm thinking it could take up a lot of time if it's more. Not enough to put me off, but it makes it more of a
committment.

The length of the submissions are about the same as for the short story camp, plus an outline on the rest of the book.

Thanks for the reply.
I wonder who the instructors will be this time. |

I will go! Even if I have to write a novel!

I'm still in two minds whether to go. I haven't even started the novel I'm planning to write, and come to that I certainly haven't written a
synopsis, or any of the other stuff they're asking for. It's not looking likely that I'll be going. I'm gutted at the thought of missing it,
though - it looks like it's going to be a great session this time around.

I'm with Ed on this one. I would love to go but I don't have enough material...
With luck there will be the year after.
